How to use Google Bard, the latest AI chatbot service

Google Bard is a new chatbot tool launched due to all the buzz around generative AI like ChatGPT. Bard is designed to simulate conversations with a human and uses natural language processing and machine learning to provide realistic and helpful answers to your questions.

In theory, Bard could one day be integrated into websites, messaging platforms, applications on desktop and mobile, and a variety of digital systems. For now, Google is opening its Bard waiting list, giving us the first look at Google’s take on AI-generated content.

What is Google Bard?

Google Bard is Google’s answer to ChatGPT. It’s an AI chatbot with many of the same functions, although it’s designed to eventually augment Google’s own search tools (mostly). Bing Chat (now using GPT-4) also offers automated support and human-like interaction for businesses.

It has been under development for a few years and uses LaMDA (Language Model for Conversational Applications) technology. It is built on Google’s Transformer Neural Network architecture, which was the basis for other AI generation tools, such as ChatGPT’s GPT-3.5 language model.

It’s not Google’s first foray into AI, even though the company seems to have been beaten by ChatGPT and OpenAI.

What question did Google Bard ask?

First seen on February 6, 2023 Google Bard made a mistake in its preview demo when answering a question about the James Webb Space Telescope’s latest discoveries. Although he claims to be the first to take a picture of a planet outside our solar system, it was actually many years ago.

Google Bard’s confidence in displaying this false information has led to heavy criticism of the device Some disadvantages of ChatGPT. In response, Google’s stock price fell by several points.

How to use Google Bard

Google is reportedly giving “Pixel Superfans” an early look at Bard, but you don’t need a Pixel phone to sign up for the service. You can join the Google Bard waitlist at bard.google.com and receive an email when it’s your turn to view. Google One customers are given a chance to preview Bard.

We had a chance to test Google Bard ourselves. It’s an amazing service, although there are still some obvious rough edges. Currently, the biggest drawback is that Bard only responds to specific requests, so it can often be used to generate code, translate languages, and perform many other tasks outside of text generation.

CEO Sundar Pichai accelerated Google Bard’s growth in early 2022, following signs of successful growth of ChatGPIT. That could continue quickly in 2023 with the continued positive press coverage ChatGPT has received.

Both Google Bard and ChatGPT use natural language models and machine learning to create their chats, but each has a different feature. At the time of writing, ChatGPT is based entirely on data collected up to 2021, while Google Bard has the ability to use current data for its responses. ChatGPT has a strong focus on conversational questions and answers, but now with Bing search results, it’s also used to answer more conversational searches. Google Bard is used in a similar way, but to add Google exclusively.

Both chatbots are based on slightly different language models. Google Bard uses LaMBDA, while ChatGPT is built on GPT-3.5 (pre-trained transformer). ChatGPT also includes As far as we know, Google’s Bard Fraud Detector (although it doesn’t really solve the plagiarism).

ChatGPT is also available for testing if you want, while Google Bard is limited to beta testers. GPT-4 has already been mentioned.

When will Google Bard be available?

Google Bard is on a waiting list. No hard timeline has been given for its wider release.

However, as we will soon see Google SEO Sundar Pichai in his Google Bard launch address to improve Google search, we will see Bard more easily in the coming weeks.
